TOP16 Tournament Pools Announced

.Following a meeting held in Manzini at the Charitas Centre with the coaches from the sixteen schools participating in the Bakers Pride TOP16 U/19's Inter Schools 7's Tournament the draw for the four pools took place.

The four Pools are as follows.

POOL A

Osuthu Methodist High, Ngwane Park High, Dvokolwako High, Emcozini High

POOL B

Hillside High, Lamawandla High, St Mary's High, Mvimbeko High

POOL C

St John Bosco High, Mliba High, St Christopher's High, Zombodze High

POOL D

Mananga College, St PAul's High, Vuvulane High, Sisekelo High

Hippo's win second Maganu 7's Tournament

The Hippo's Rugby Club from the town of Dvokolwako proved too strong for everyone on Saturday when they walked away victors in the second Maganu 7's Rugby Tournament played at the Kwaluseni Sports Ground on Saturday.

7's Coaching Workshop planned for Schools Coaches

The SRU will be holding a 7's Coaching Workshop for the Schools Coaches who will be participating in the TOP16 In ter Schools 7's Tournament to be played in May. SRU President Michael Collinson made the announcement at the Rugby Union offices today. "We have been approached by several Teacher Coaches and Youth Coaches to hold the 7's Workshop, we have received twenty three applications to attend. 7's at schools level is strong and interest is growing with more schools asking to host tournaments. The 7's Coaching Workshop is therefore necessary" said Collinson.

St John Bosco High win Inter Schools 7's Tournament

The U/19's 7's schools 7's side kicked off their preparations for the up and coming TOP16 Inter Schools 7's tournament with a mini tournament played at the Princes Pholile Sports Ground in Malkerns. Four schools participated in the tournament, Hillside High, Ngwane Park High, St John Bosco High and St Mary's High

The weather was perfect for rugby and all four teams were ready and eager.

National Training Session Begin

.Preparations for the up and coming CAR tournament to be held in Rwanda have begun. Players were called to national training last weekend. The training sessions will be held at the Kwaluseni Campus sports ground. The CAR tournament kicks off on June 1st with four countries participating, Burundi, Rwanda, Swaziland and Tanzania.

The Swaziland Rugby Union are to kick off the 'Imbali' Girls U/19's 7's Rugby Tournament next week. Four girls schools are to kick start the tournament, these schools are Mjingo High, St Michael's High, St Theresa's High and St Anne's High. SRU President and tournament organiser Michael Collinson made the announcement today. .To date the Swaziland Rugby Union have signed up twenty three schools to participate in the up and coming TOP16 U/19's 7's Rugby Tournament. We will be holding 7's coaching workshops at three separate venues throughout the country on dates yet to be confirmed over the coming weeks to assist coaches in improving their 7's coaching skills. The TOP16 tournament will be a great opportunity for all the young players to show off their rugby skills to the SRU coaches and selectors. Looking at the raw 7's rugby talaent we have in Swaziland, the SRU feel we need to put together a 7's Rugby 'Talaent Indentification Programme' SRU President Michael Collinson will be personally running the new programme and he has great expectations for the future of 7's rugby within the Kingdom" said Dlamini. The Hippo's on the attack against the Titan'sFour clubs attended the March 'Maganu 7's Rugby Tournament held at the Kwaluseni Sports Ground. The Hippo's proved too strong on the day and were the deserved winners.

.The Swaziland Rugby Union in partnership with the Ngwane Group launched the TOP 16's U/19's Inter Schools 7's Rugby Tournament at the Ngwane Milling offices in Matsapha.

"We can not thank the Ngwane Group enough for their commitment to rugby development within the KIngdom. This is the first fully sponsored rugby tournament we have held in Swaziland and what a better tournament to support than the U/19's Inter Schools 7's." said SRU President, Michael Collinson.

"We have been discussing the possibility of the Ngwane Group becoming involved in local rugby and youth rugby development and we are so pleased that the Ngwane Group have committed themselves to sponsoring the TOP 16 schools tournament. The tournament will be played between +/- fourty schools in the qualifying stages ending with the TOP 16 schools playing the final three days of the tournament at the Mavuso Sports Stadium in Manzini. It certainly is a very exciting kick start to U/19's rugby development within Swaziland." said schools rugby development coach, Wilson Dlamini.

It was great to meet both teams during my time here in Swaziland and to see they ar still playing rugby. Eight candidates have been invited to participate in this the first of two IRB Level I Referee's courses planned for 2013. IRB Referee's Trainer, Burton Hufkie will be facilitating the course which will be held over three days.

The Swaziland Rugby Union have received an invitation to participate in the 2013 CAR Africa Cup Division II East rugby tournament to be played in Rwanda in June. Four countries have been invited to play in the tournament, host Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Swaziland.
