Mahlanya Primary take Vondo's Inter Schools Tag Rugby Tournament

A Mahlanya player on the break during the final against St Andrew'sA Mahlanya player on the break during the final against St Andrew'sThe Vondo's Rugby Club situated in Malkerns held their U/12's Inter Schools Tag Rugby Tournament on Thursday at the Princess Pholile Sports Ground.  The five schools participating in the tournament were, Mahlanya, Khalangile, St Andrews, Mangwayane and Mphetseni Primary's.

U/19's Club league kicks off

Elephants going for the try against the Vondo'sElephants going for the try against the Vondo'sSaturday saw the Swaziland Rugby Union's U/19's Club league kick off at the Emcozini Sports ground just outside of the town of Luve.  The three Clubs taking part in this the first league fixtures of 2010 were, The Elephants, Lion's and Vondo's.  SRU President, Michael Collinson was on hand to welcome the three Clubs and wished them all good luck in the league.

 

 

 

 

 

Rugby Union announces proposed Club Rugby League

The Swaziland Rugby Union today announced the plans for the first Club Rugby League within the Kingdom.  Vice President, Sibusiso Nkambule made the announcement today.  "At this moment in time we have five Rugby Clubs who have expressed an interest in the new Club Rugby League structure.  These Clubs are, Ngwenya, Titans, Rhino's, Eagles and the Vondo's."

The last Rugby game of 2009 took place in Nhlangano last week.  The Scorpions Rugby Club Teachers side from Nhlangano took on the Vondo's Rugby Club Teachers side from Malkerns.  The game was played at the SOS Childrens Village sports field.

Vondo's scoring the winning tryVondo's scoring the winning tryThe Teachers team from the Vondo's Rugby Club lifted the winners trophy at the Teachers Inter Club Rugby Tournament held at the Vondo's ground in Malkerns.  The tournament was the first of its kind and following on from the final, Rugby Union President, Michael Collinson said he was delighted with the turn out and how well the teachers played.
